Rising Stars Camp Update
Safety Cameron Williams (Bakersfield High School), who is committed to Oregon, was at the USC Rising Stars camp today. From what I hear, he could decommit if USC wants him. Five-star cornerback Chris Steele of St. John Bosco was also there. Wide receiver Melquan Stovall of Serra in Gardena was among those to earn MVP honors. The big coaching name was Dan Mullen of Florida. … Continue reading Rising Stars Camp Update
UCLA’s Role In USC Track And Field Title
UCLA deserves an assist in helping USC win yesterday’s NCAA women’s track and field championship. An unheralded part of USC’s dramatic victory was sprinter Angie Annelus surprisingly winning the 200 meters just before the 4×400 relay. She transferred this season from UCLA. Without Annelus, USC has 10 less points in the meet. UCLA also allowed 400-meter men’s hurdler Rai Benjamin to transfer to USC and … Continue reading UCLA’s Role In USC Track And Field Title

The Trojans won the 4×400 relay, the final event, to win the national title as Kendall Ellis ran a strong anchor leg (50.05). Ellis survived a shaky baton exchange and then made up a huge gap to edge out Purdue and win the race and title for the … Continue reading USC Women’s Track Wins NCAA Title
USC Saturday Buzz
Many assumed freshman linebacker Palaie Gaoteote would be awarded No. 55 because he was a five-star linebacker and comes with high expectations from Bishop Gorman. But it looks like Gaoteote will wear No. 1, according to a staff member. Maybe some of the former No. 55’s (Willie McGinest, Chris Claiborne) expressed an objection like two years ago when Clay Helton briefly gave it to Cameron Smith before … Continue reading USC Saturday Buzz
Does Clay Helton Still Want Jack Jones To Return?
Earlier this week, Clay Helton said he wanted Jack Jones to return in 2019. I said at the time I doubted this statement and I’m even more certain now Jones will never return to USC. I’ve heard there were some off-field issues with Jones besides his academic problems and now he has two felony charges to deal with after allegedly breaking into a Panda Express … Continue reading Does Clay Helton Still Want Jack Jones To Return?
