USC Morning Buzz: Making NFL Combine Without Help
Christian Roland-Wallace was one of eight USC players selected for the NFL Combine. But he did it all by himself because he didn’t get any help from the USC coaches. Let’s review: The minute Roland-Wallace transferred to USC, I said he was their best cornerback. So what do the USC coaches do in the summer? They try to convert him to a nickel back! This … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: Making NFL Combine Without Help
Night Notes: Great Bowl Arrangements
The departing Pac-12 teams, including USC, will still play in Pac-12 bowls in 2024 and 2025. Great. More Sun and Holiday Bowl appearances for teams. No trips to Florida? That little fact seems to escape the USC die-hards these days as both schools move to the Big Ten. The difference between the crosstown rivals is that USC is willing to throw whatever money is necessary … Continue reading Morning Buzz: USC Throws Money Before Big Ten Move, Will UCLA?
A Stat To Remember For A Teflon Coach
Isn’t it amazing that when Kliff Kingsbury coached Patrick Mahomes at Texas Tech (2014-16), the Red Raiders were 16-21. Hasn’t hurt Kingsbury’s coaching career one bit either. Neither did going 28-37-1 as coach of the Arizona Cardinals. The Washington Commanders are full of former USC assistants with Kingsbury and now Ken Norton Jr., who is their new linebackers coach. I’m just surprised Kingsbury’s name didn’t … Continue reading A Stat To Remember For A Teflon Coach
So This Means Pete Carroll Didn’t Want UCLA Job?
Pete Carroll’s name got thrown around for the UCLA job. I never saw it as a realistic possibility. UCLA couldn’t afford Carroll. It couldn’t afford his staff. It couldn’t pay off its exisiting staff, which Carroll would have fired. Then there was the question whether Carroll even wants to coach college football. Does he want to recruit? Does he want to deal with NIL? And … Continue reading So This Means Pete Carroll Didn’t Want UCLA Job?
