Well, the season is over and it went out with a whimper. USC’s offense was pretty awful, at least when it came to scoring points. I’m not sure Graham Harrell did much to enhance his reputation in his final USC game. What an awful ride for Donte Williams. USC had a depleted roster as Drake Jackson, Chris Steele or Hunter Echols were among those who … Continue reading Discuss The USC-Cal Game

It’s just one thing after another tonight, which is typical for a 4-7 team. Miller Moss! Pretty awful time management at end of the first half for USC. Does anyone think Todd Orlando will get the defense in order in the final game of the year? How many fans will be on Tightwad Hill tonight? How many will be in stands? About 20,000? I always think of Sam Barry when USC plays at Cal, so it’s worth retelling this story. If you ever attended at USC-Cal game at Berkeley, you experienced walking up the hill to Memorial Stadium. On Sept. 23, 1950, Barry died of a heart attack while he walked up a hill west of Memorial Stadium. Barry was scouting the Santa Clara-California game for USC. He … Continue reading A USC-Cal History Lesson

Some USC fans suggested the Trojans should have pulled a UCLA and taken a forfeit like the Bruins did with Washington this weekend in basketball. But remember, USC was desperate to be bowl eligible and forfeits do not count as a victory for bowl purposes. So USC needed … Continue reading Did USC Really Have To Play Cal Tonight?

The Los Al pipeline to USC continued today as four-star wide receiver Makai Lemon of Los Alamitos committed to USC. The Class of 2023 prospect was previously committed to Oklahoma but decommitted after Lincoln Riley got hired at USC. Lemon is the third decommitment from Oklahoma to follow Riley to USC, joining his teammate, QB Malachi Nelson, and TB Raleek Brown of Mater Dei. Continue reading Makai Lemon To USC

The Lincoln Riley Era is officially underway. I’ve always written a mannequin could do a better job than some USC coaches (like Paul Hackett and Clay Helton) because the mannequin won’t do any damage. Riley is obviously a good coach so it should be fairly easy for USC to once again become the top program in the Pac-12. I like that he brought a new … Continue reading If It’s Friday, It’s Time For A USC Notes Column
