Safety Dorian Hewett will announce his college choice tonight at 6 p.m. (PST). He visited USC over the weekend. A Pac-12 coach told me the following about the decommitment of wide receiver Koy Moore: “There are 20 wide receivers that good within a 15-mile radius of Los Angeles.” That sums up the problem for USC. It cannot convince the local stars because the word is out … Continue reading A Twin Dilemma For USC Recruiting
USC usually makes a big deal out of its recruiting dinner that is held on the evening of Signing Day. The event includes the high school seniors who graduated early and enrolled in January. Films of the recruiting class are also shown to the crowd. But this year the athletic dept. has been pretty low key with the event. Could it be the 5-7 season? … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: Ready For The Recruiting Celebration?
Wide receiver Koy Moore said last night he would not have decommitted from USC if Tee Martin were still on the coaching staff. So the question now is who replaces Martin, who was probably the best recruiter on the staff? Graham Harrell? A guy who has spent most of his adult life in Lubbock, Pullman and Denton, Texas? Mike Jinks? Does he even know Southern … Continue reading Who Is The Ace Recruiter Now?
A question I’ve had since the season ended is whether tight end Daniel Imatorbhebhe is still on the team? Especially after his brother, Josh, decided to transfer last week. Daniel was supposed to become a star in 2017 but has barely played the past two seasons because of injuries although Clay Helton always speaks vaguely about Imatorbhebhe and his health. Anyways, over the weekend, Imatorbhebhe … Continue reading One Mystery Solved
Is there any way four-star running back Keilan Robinson would switch from Alabama to USC on Signing Day? If he does, it means Alabama does not want him. With the Super Bowl yesterday, it’s hard to believe Clancy Pendergast was the Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator in a Super Bowl 10 years ago against the Pittsburgh Steelers. My favorite NFL story regarding Pendergast is that he … Continue reading USC Afternoon Notes: Watch This Recruit On Signing Day
USC hosted offensive tackle Hunter Hill over the weekend and will now try to steal him from Washington State and Utah State. It would feel better if USC was going against Notre Dame, Washington or Oregon for a recruit. Instead, the Trojans are making a late charge for Hill, who is from Orem, Utah. Does it matter that Kyle Whittingham is not recruiting Hill? What … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: Are Washington State/Utah State New Rivals?
