USC Saturday Buzz: A Question On Offensive Line Recruiting

USC signed six offensive lineman from the Class of 2020. And it has three commitments for 2021. Eight of the nine are three stars according to Rivals. I’d be less hung up on stars if USC had a history of developing linemen under the current regime. Do stars matter? Offensive tackles Tyron Smith, Matt Kalil and Zach Banner were five stars. Chad Wheeler was a … Continue reading USC Saturday Buzz: A Question On Offensive Line Recruiting

USC Picks Up 13th Commitment

USC received a commitment from offensive tackle Saia Mapakaitolo, a three-star prospect from Alemany High School. What’s funny is when I mentioned Oregon got four-star lineman Jonah Miller, some people said, “USC signed six linemen (in 2020), they don’t need more.” But USC has commitments from three offensive linemen in 2021, all three-star players. Hype Up The Hype Video!

When USC athletic director Mike Bohn told Paul Finebaum it was unfortunate how California and West Coast schools were portrayed in wanting to play football, he has a point. People tend to downgrade what comes from the Pac-12 nationally. The problem is flawed messengers. When Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott talks, observers see a guy who never seems to lead on an issue, whether it’s the … Continue reading If It’s Friday, It’s Time For A Notes Column

Aunt Becky Only Got 2 Months?

You probably already heard, but I still need to comment on this: Actor Lori Loughlin and her husband agreed to plead guilty in the College Admissions Scandal. Loughlin will serve 2 months in jail and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, will serve 5 months. Loughlin will pay a $150,000 fine while Giannulli will pay $250,000. So all that legal wrangling the past year and Loughlin will … Continue reading Aunt Becky Only Got 2 Months?
