USC football and basketball posted identical four-year scores of 973 in the latest NCAA Academic Progress Ratings. USC football posted a score of 974 in 2016-17. Its multi-year score in 2015-16 was 968. Basketball scored 977 in 2016-17 and had a multi-year score of 969 in basketball in 2015-16. The penalty line for APR scores is 930. USC point guard Larry Friend, who passed away Tuesday, was an integral part of two of the best victories I witnessed over crosstown rival UCLA in 1985.
