USC offensive guard Chris Brown signed a free-agent contract with the Chargers. Center Toa Lobendahn signed with the Jets. Usually, a top prospect transfers to Mater Dei instead of leaving. But cornerback Elias Ricks said he is leaving so he can graduate early at the end of 2019 and enroll in college next January. Ricks, rated the nation’s No. 1 cornerback, is going to play … Continue reading Saturday Night Notes: Chris Brown And Elias Ricks Edition
The NFL draft is over and USC had only four players selected. It was underwhelming at best. Some thoughts: The Ravens have to be thinking of moving Iman Marshall to safety. That’s the best-case scenario I can see for him being a fourth-round selection. Marvell Tell’s athleticism allowed him to be a fifth-round choice. The Vols’ offensive line was ranked last in the nation (130th) in “stuff rate,” which measures the percentage … Continue reading Tennessee Offensive Tackle Drew Richmond Transfers To USC
The Los Angeles Times has a story on how Max Nikias is still around USC. Here’s the item that stuck out to me: “Nikias and his wife purchased a Manhattan Beach home in the fall from sports broadcaster Colin Cowherd for $4.1 million.” So from one wealthy USC superfan to another. Now you know why I call it the USC South Bay mafia. Andy Enfield … Continue reading What Do Max Nikias And Colin Cowherd Have In Common?
