San Jose State Guard Noah Baumann Transfers To USC
Former San Jose State guard Noah Baumann has decided to transfer to USC. He also considered Grand Canyon and UC Santa Barbara. He averaged 10.6 points and made 46 percent of his 3-pointers last season. Baumann played two seasons at San Jose State so it appears he will need to redshirt unless he gets a waiver. USC Morning Buzz: Clay Helton Eats His Own Words
Last month I made fun of the following Clay Helton quote regarding the hiring of a recruiting director to replace Eric Ziskin. “It’s such a big hire. It’s like having an OC, a DC, a special teams coordinator. Strength and conditioning. This is a big hire,” Helton said. So what did Helton do? He hired Spencer Harris of Fresno State to be USC’s new recruiting … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: Clay Helton Eats His Own Words
Coliseum Naming Rights Update
L.A. County Supervisor Janice Hahn said today she still believes it is possible to name the field but not the Coliseum as she still opposes the “United Airlines Memorial Coliseum” naming rights. “I’m hopeful that a compromise can be reached,” Hahn said. “I also know that there is talk of other possible corporate sponsors expressing an interest.” United has already said it would prefer to … Continue reading Coliseum Naming Rights Update
A Moment To Remember From Last Scrimmage
USC’s final Saturday scrimmage had this heartwarming image: Athletic director Lynn Swann driving a golf cart and parking it in the end zone, away from the fans. “He didn’t have to sign autographs if he was in a golf cart,” a practice observer said. My USC Quarterback Rankings
OK, with spring practice over it’s time to rank the quarterbacks. This is my ranking and not who I think will start since I tend to disagree with Clay Helton on most things. I’m using the old Euro scale of 1-4 with 4 being best: Jack Sears €€€ When the real bullets are flying overhead, no one is better JT Daniels €€1/2 None of his … Continue reading My USC Quarterback Rankings
USC Morning Buzz: The Company Line Needs Improvement
For most of spring practice, I haven’t focused on the offensive line. Now that spring practice is over, I will say the offensive line hasn’t improved much since last season. There is one high-level athlete (Austin Jackson) and even he is inconsistent. The rest of the unit is not noteworthy from an athletic standpoint. Last week, a USC coach claimed it didn’t matter because they … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: The Company Line Needs Improvement
