USC Picture Of The Day
In another appreciation of former USC tailback Willie Brown, here he is playing against Iowa in 1962. Continue reading USC Picture Of The Day
If It’s Friday, It’s Time For A Notes Column
Clay Helton said age will not be a factor when choosing a starting quarterback. Why didn’t he have this policy when Sam Darnold competed against Max Browne two years ago? When Bryce Young committed to USC, it presented this question: Will the Trojans start two quarterbacks (JT Daniels, Young) who are 6-feet-1 and 6-feet tall for the next six years? Willie Brown was not only … Continue reading If It’s Friday, It’s Time For A Notes Column
Former USC Great Willie Brown Dies
Willie Brown, who is probably one of the greatest athletes in USC history, died today of cancer. Here’s my favorite example of his ability: In the 1963 Rose Bowl, No. 1 USC played No. 2 Wisconsin. Brown had 108 yards receiving, returned kickoffs 41-and-31 yards and made perhaps the key play of the game with an interception in the end zone. USC Morning Buzz: Larry Scott Defends Pac-12
Pac-12 media day always features commissioner Larry Scott making some comments that defy common sense. Here was Scott on the Pac-12’s 1-8 bowl record: “A handful of season-ending games are not an indicator of a conference’s overall strength.” Nine games might be a handful but eight losses are not, unless you are an awful football program. More importantly, is that Scott’s takeaway from the bowl … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: Larry Scott Defends Pac-12
Bryce Young To USC
As expected, Mater Dei quarterback Bryce Young committed to USC. Young is the No. 1-rated dual threat QB for the Class of 2020 per Rivals. Now some questions: Young’s size (6-0, 180) will be an issue for some. A high school coach told me he wants to see how Young does outside of a 7-on-7 environment and how Young handles the physicality of the Trinity … Continue reading Bryce Young To USC
