Todd Orlando Lays Down Law
New USC defensive coordinator Todd Orlando didn’t waste any time trying to change the culture upon his arrival. During a defensive meeting last week, Orlando said he wasn’t going to tolerate the current system where players get demerits for rules infractions. “This is (expletive) over,” Orlando reportedly said. “This will never happen on my watch.” We will see if Orlando’s hard-nosed approach works in the … Continue reading Todd Orlando Lays Down Law
Nation’s No. 1 Recruit Spurns USC
Corona Centennial defensive end Korey Foreman, ranked the No. 1 player for 2021 by 247Sports, committed to Clemson on Sunday night. Guess he wasn’t impressed by the Todd Orlando hire. The USC fanboys assured me Foreman wanted to be a Trojan because he was a teammate of Drake Jackson. More important, will the Clay Helton apologists, like Mike Bohn, come to terms with the fact … Continue reading Nation’s No. 1 Recruit Spurns USC
Who Jumped Into The Julie’s Pool?
A long-time USC fan told me that in the 1950’s and early 1960’s, if you headed over to Julie’s Restaurant after a game, the crowd would become more and more boisterous. Eventually, there would always be some fully-clothed fans who would jump into the swimming pool in the back patio. “People were cheering and celebrating,” the fan said. “Sooner or later, they would jump into … Continue reading Who Jumped Into The Julie’s Pool?
Kobe Bryant, RIP
It’s an awful/heartbreaking day with the tragic news of the death of Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna. Former Lakers GM Jerry West said it “was one of the worst days of his life.” Both the @Raptors and the @spurs ran out the 24-second shot clock on their first possession of the game in honour of Kobe Bryant. pic.twitter.com/JhD8XVUGFo — Sportsnet (@Sportsnet) January 26, … Continue reading Kobe Bryant, RIP
Jack Sears Weighing Options
I wondered Friday if former USC QB Jack Sears would reconsider going to San Diego State now that Rocky Long resigned? And now 247Sports says he will not enroll at San Diego State for the spring semester as he waits for the Aztecs to hire an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Sears could still go to San Diego State but is keeping his options open. … Continue reading Jack Sears Weighing Options
USC Morning Buzz: What Will Todd Orlando Do Next?
Is Todd Orlando going to fire any defensive coaches or bring in his own staff? It’s still unknown although I hear USC defensive coaches have been subtly putting out feelers for other jobs during Clay Helton (and Mike Bohn’s) search for a defensive coordinator. I would be surprised if Orlando doesn’t want to bring in some of his own guys. One thing you can be … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: What Will Todd Orlando Do Next?
