I ran some classic photos this week and here’s one from the 1974 USC-Cal game. You’ve got Cal wearing its “C” on helmets in a simple but distinct look and the partially obstructed guy on the left with the popular single-bar down middle face mask. And USC wearing the uniform many still find the Trojans’ best. I’m not even going to let the fact Pat … Continue reading USC Picture Of The Day
You know USC beat UCLA in football and the first meeting in men’s basketball. But some other sports are not carrying their weight recently. Men’s water polo plays UCLA today and is only 1-2 against the Bruins this season. Men’s volleyball is 1-2 vs. UCLA after dropping two matches in the past three days. Women’s basketball is 0-1 vs. UCLA. No one really pays attention … Continue reading Sunday Buzz: Crosstown Rivalry Heats Up
Looks like Coach Bohn’s post-game speech on Thursday night had a big impact. Arizona post players Azuolas Tubelis and Jordan Brown bested the Mobley brothers. Brown had 19 points and 13 rebounds while Tubelis had 16 points and 15 rebounds. The loss snapped USC’s seven-game winning streak and perfect February. USC was outrebounded, 43-36. Evan Mobley had 23 points and five rebounds but scored only … Continue reading USC 7-Game Winning Streak Ends

USC has hired former center Toa Lobendahn as a defensive graduate assistant. Remember when Clay Helton said, “Toa is one of the loves of my life.” USC received a commitment from three-star linebacker Ty Kana. … Continue reading Saturday Notes: More Staff News
USC might be many things but it is not cheap, depending who you are, of course. USC has hired Jeff Martin of LSU as its director of scouting/player relations. His title at LSU was lead personnel analyst/player development. Since you have already read the breathless reports from the usual suspects, let me add something new to this hire: A USC source tells me Martin will … Continue reading Friday Notes: USC Has Money To Burn
There’s a weird dynamic some feel at USC when it comes to the running of the football program. Although Mike Bohn is the athletic director, his No. 2, Brandon Sosna, is viewed as the “general manager” of the football program. “He’s the one who hires and fires people,” a source said. “He’s got his little clique of (football support staff) people he talks to in … Continue reading If It’s Friday, It’s Time For A USC Notes Column
