I’m hearing USC is giving new cornerbacks coach Donte Williams a three-year deal worth approximately $900,000 per year. That doubles his $450,000 salary at Oregon. That’s a huge payout for a position coach. You have Graham Harrell getting $1.2 million per season for 3 years and Williams getting $900,000. Todd Orlando has to be getting around $1 million in a multi-year deal. It’s good USC … Continue reading USC Opens Bank For Donte Williams
If there is one thing USC is good at, it’s bragging before it accomplishes anything. Let me start off saying I spoke to a respected coach who knows new cornerbacks coach Donte Williams and said, “I think it’s a good hire, for sure.” I’ll have more on that later. But look at the reaction of Graham Harrell: Harrell has been at USC for 13 months. … Continue reading Let The Gloating Begin At USC
Donte Williams is expected to become cornerbacks coach and passing game coordinator at USC, according to the Athletic. Some of the USC media is already drooling, of course. Like I say after every hire, if it’s good, who does it help? Charles Clay Helton. The real question is what was Williams promised to leave Oregon and work for a lame duck? He was obviously given … Continue reading Looks Like USC Hired Corners Coach
USC wants to hire Oregon cornerbacks coach Donte Williams but the Ducks are making a counteroffer to try and keep him. It really says something that USC or Todd Orlando identified an Oregon assistant to bolster the coaching staff. Oregon has become the program to emulate in the Pac-12. Just a few years ago, it seemed like USC was the top program but that was … Continue reading USC Wants To Steal Oregon Assistant
USC will join Notre Dame, Connecticut and Vanderbilt in the Legends Classic at the Barclays Center on Nov. 23-24 in Brooklyn. USC will play Notre Dame at the Coliseum on Nov. 28, which means the schools might play each other in both sports the last week of November . . . but 2,800 miles apart. At least Andy Enfield is playing in a real tournament. Continue reading USC Football/Basketball May Play Notre Dame In Same Week
Former USC assistant coach Johnny Nansen is close to being hired as UCLA defensive line coach, according to BruinReportOnline. This is a strange hire. Nansen is a jack-of-all trades but hasn’t coached defensive line since 2011 at Washington. Is he being hired for his recruiting abilities? That’s the only possible explanation I can imagine because no one in coaching circles ever mentioned Nansen’s coaching as … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: Johnny Nansen To UCLA?
