Someone I know ran into Urban Meyer this week at a Washington, D.C., hotel and told him he should coach at USC. “I’m done coaching,” Meyer said. “That’s probably what he tells everybody,” said the person, who did not believe Meyer. As usual, it’s always worth noting Carol Folt never wanted Meyer at USC. This did not seem possible a month ago, but it’s become even harder to listen to Clay Helton. I’m glad Mike Bohn forced him to fire John Baxter and Clancy Pendergast. But the fact Helton is regularly butchering facts about a major-college football program after he fired 13 assistant coaches makes him even more insufferable. I don’t know how anyone on campus respects Helton after … Continue reading If It’s Friday, It’s Time For A USC Notes Column
USC’s recruiting class actually dropped one on 247Sports and is now No. 55. But it did rise to No. 65 on Rivals. It is still the worst class in the Pac-12 on Rivals. The truth is even the player USC signed Wednesday — Jack Yary — is a three-star tight end. In normal years, he would be someone who filled out a class. It would … Continue reading USC Recruiting Rankings Move
