Hype Up The Hype Video!

This strikes me as a boilerplate hype video. And there is nothing wrong with that. But when USC overhypes the hype-video guys, it creates an expectation that you will be floored. So far, it seems only media sycophants are wowed by this one. If It’s Friday, It’s Time For A Notes Column

When USC athletic director Mike Bohn told Paul Finebaum it was unfortunate how California and West Coast schools were portrayed in wanting to play football, he has a point. People tend to downgrade what comes from the Pac-12 nationally. The problem is flawed messengers. When Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott talks, observers see a guy who never seems to lead on an issue, whether it’s the … Continue reading If It’s Friday, It’s Time For A Notes Column

USC athletic director Mike Bohn was on the Paul Finebaum Show today. He took issue with the way West Coast schools were portrayed on their approach to returning to sports. “People don’t understand our commitment to football and our student athletes,” Bohn said. “It creates a little unrest because you’re competitive.” Bohn on USC’s chances of playing football this season: “Our hope meter seems to … Continue reading Mike Bohn Says Portrayal Of USC, West Coast “Unfortunate”

USC Morning Buzz: The Post-UCLA Game Stories Continue

One of the most-read stories I wrote last season was when Clay Helton awarded game balls to Mike Bohn and Carol Folt after the UCLA game. Helton was trying to save his job. Helton did not, however, award a game ball to Kedon Slovis, who passed for a USC-record 515 yards in that game. I was casually talking to a USC player last week, who … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: The Post-UCLA Game Stories Continue
