USC Morning Buzz: The Day Many Waited For Arrives
Time to start the week off with some notes: Today is the start of Carol Folt‘s tenure as USC president. And I’ve already had several emails sent to her that were forwarded to me from angry fans and former players about Lynn Swann and the state of the football program. Folt might need to hire a person just to deal with her emails. If USC … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: The Day Many Waited For Arrives
Let’s Look At The Best Offers Of Some Recruits
When St. John Bosco’s Drake Metcalf became the latest four-star offensive lineman to commit elsewhere, here’s a little factoid about four lineman who have committed to USC: Kyle Juergens, Joey Wright, Andrew Milek and Andres Dewerk were all offered by San Diego State. So USC is putting a dent in San Diego State’s recruiting. But if you want to say these prospects were widely recruited, … Continue reading Let’s Look At The Best Offers Of Some Recruits
Is USC One Of Nation’s Most Improved Teams?
College football analyst Phil Steele says USC will be the sixth-most improved team in the nation. Steele lists Nebraska, Florida Atlantic, Florida State, Virginia Tech and Air Force in his top five. It won’t take much to be improved when you went 5-7 last season so I see where Steele is coming from. Metcalf might like USC but Saturday night he committed to Stanford. He is a four-star per Rivals so maybe that is why he spurned USC. The homers are thrilled with last week’s haul of two-and-three star … Continue reading Another Four Star Makes Decision
Mater Dei System Wins Again
Mater Dei defeated St. John Bosco, 24-12, in the Battle of the Beach Tournament at Edison High School. And Mater Dei won without QB Bryce Young, who is committed to USC and was at the Elite 11 competition in Frisco, Texas. It was Mater Dei’s fourth straight Battle of the Beach title. And leads to speculation that it doesn’t matter whether JT Daniels, Young or … Continue reading Mater Dei System Wins Again
USC Afternoon Notes: As The University Turns
I hear before he left USC, director of athletic security Rick Carr spoke to the FBI. The College Admissions Scandal is far from over. Don’t forget Pat Haden’s name recently emerged with the FBI and will likely find a way to claim innocence and blame someone else if he is pressed. Who claims ignorance faster? Haden or Lynn Swann? I already said a reader told … Continue reading USC Afternoon Notes: As The University Turns
