A Star-Studded Spring Game Lineup
Here’s more proof of the star-studded lineup for the 1961 USC spring game, which featured ex-Trojans in the NFL vs. current USC players. Ron Mix is in the NFL Hall of Fame and considered one of the greatest offensive linemen in NFL history. Defensive back Lindon Crow played for the New York Giants in “The Greatest Game Ever Played” (1958 NFL championship game). Marlin McKeever played … Continue reading A Star-Studded Spring Game Lineup
Will USC Ever Have Another Spring Game?
USC ran its 40-play scrimmage that purposely had vanilla plays because the game was on the Pac-12 Network. This is the third year Clay Helton has decided to do away with a regular spring game, which would be about 80-90 plays. I’m not sure why a spring game is frowned upon at USC. The depth, if you listen to the coaches, is the best its … Continue reading Will USC Ever Have Another Spring Game?
USC Ad Of The Day
Who went to the Raffles over on Degnan Blvd.? It was about three miles from USC and had prime rib for $2.95. Plus soup or salad, potato or vegetable, garlic bread and the relish bowl. Are you hungry now? Continue reading USC Ad Of The Day
USC Sunday Buzz: At Least One School Had Spring Stats
USC ran a 40-play scrimmage with vanilla plays. But if you want to know what Florida did, quarterback Feleipe Franks was 8-of-12 with 117 yards and passed for a touchdown. Kyle Trask was 12-of-24 with 178 yards and one touchdown pass. No such luck with USC quarterbacks. It’s actually crueler for the defensive players, who don’t get any credit for what they did yesterday. Meanwhile, … Continue reading USC Sunday Buzz: At Least One School Had Spring Stats
USC Ends Spring Practice On Sunny Note
I defy anyone to say Saturday’s practice at Cromwell Field really proved anything. Matt Fink and Jack Sears completed passes, which was good. But how that translates to a game five months from now is anyone’s guess. And does anything that happened in spring practice matter if JT Daniels starts? Clay Helton said Daniels can participate in player-run practices that begin June 8 because he … Continue reading USC Ends Spring Practice On Sunny Note
USC Saturday Buzz
Spring practice at noon today at Cromwell Field. What’s a shame is that unlike so many other schools, USC no longer provides stats for its scrimmages. The team has scrimmaged on several Saturdays this spring with enough plays to do stats. Last week, there were 50 plays. And no stats. It used to be a foregone conclusion that official stats would be taken. You can … Continue reading USC Saturday Buzz
