Time For A Restaurant Price Check
A friend who sent me the Julie’s restaurant menu last week said a reader thought the menu was from 1970 and that the $11.50 steak sandwich would cost roughly $88 today. Well, the menu is actually from 1996 when the restaurant closed. So the steak sandwich would cost about $22 today. Big difference. Julie’s wasn’t known for being pricey. It catered to a diverse crowd … Continue reading Time For A Restaurant Price Check
PFF Is At It Again!
I find myself rarely agreeing with Pro Football Focus rankings. They list Calen Bullock as the top returning safety in the country. I said a year ago Bullock was a rising player at USC and would be a key part of the defense. But top safety in the country? Did PFF see the tackling in the final two games of the season (example below)? It’s … Continue reading PFF Is At It Again!
USC Morning Buzz: Saturday Column Supplement

Caleb Williams got his deals himself and Jordan Addison was the Biletnikoff Award winner when he transferred. The rank-and-file players didn’t see a lot. The donors who funded BLVD will continue to have an … Continue reading RIP, BLVD!
If It’s Friday, It’s Time For A USC Notes Column
The USC baseball team opens the Andy Stankiewicz Era tonight vs. Marist at 6:30 p.m. at Dedeaux Field. Tickets are only $5 for the opener. “This baseball program, it’s always been in my mind one of the best in the nation,” Stankiewicz said. Former USC basketball player Jordan McLaughlin will have his jersey retired tonight at Etiwanda High School at halftime of its CIF Division … Continue reading If It’s Friday, It’s Time For A USC Notes Column
Mater Dei Hires A New Coach
Mater Dei has hired Frank McManus as its new football coach. McManus is a long-time assistant (16 seasons) and coached defensive backs the past seven seasons. Former USC/Mater Dei players Lenny Vandermade and Khaled Holmes were named as candidates for the job. The new coach is significant to USC because of its recruiting ties to Mater Dei. Here’s a statement from former Mater Dei coach … Continue reading Mater Dei Hires A New Coach
