USC Friday Notes Column Supplement
I wrote this morning about John McKay benching five starters after losing his USC debut to Oregon State, 14-0, in 1960 as the Trojans fumbled five times. Well, McKay didn’t get his first win until Game 4 when the Trojans defeated Georgia, 10-3, at the Coliseum. Georgia featured QB Fran Tarkenton but the Friday night game drew only 28,120. USC intercepted Tarkenton four times. “This … Continue reading USC Friday Notes Column Supplement
If It’s Friday, It’s Time For A USC Notes Column
Isn’t it telling that the while the Lakers traded for Russell Westbrook and the Dodgers are close to acquiring Max Scherzer, USC is still putzing around with Clay Helton. USC cannot trade for a tailback. But it can hire a big-time coach who can make the Trojans the stars of Los Angeles. Instead, it’s full-speed ahead with Helton while the L.A. glamour teams add more … Continue reading If It’s Friday, It’s Time For A USC Notes Column
Evan Mobley To Cavaliers
As expected, Evan Mobley goes to the Cavs at No. 3. That ties O.J. Mayo as the highest draft pick ever for a USC player. Did you see Andy Enfield was sitting at the Mobley table? Probably wondering how he is going to get players with Jason Hart. Or sore about not getting his contract extension. The moment @evanmobley's name was called ❤💛 pic.twitter.com/3Tiqq4oIF9 — … Continue reading Evan Mobley To Cavaliers
USC Notes: Where Will Evan Mobley Go? Can Enfield Hire Assistant?
I have a funny/frustrating story from Pac-12 media day here. Meanwhile, it looks like Evan Mobley is headed to Cleveland with the No. 3 pick, based on reports. This assumes no trades change things. With Jason Hart leaving, USC needs a big-time assistant. You might say, “Well, Andy Enfield hired Hart, so why can’t he do something similar again?” Because here is how Hart and … Continue reading USC Notes: Where Will Evan Mobley Go? Can Enfield Hire Assistant?
Did Todd McNair Settle Case For $8 Million?
Reggie Bush cannot stop talking, because he wants his Heisman Trophy back. Bush talked a lot less when USC and its football players needed his help. But did he admit on twitter that Todd McNair settled for $8 million. The greatest story in college football history has just turned into the greatest cover up by the @ncaa that settlement for $8Million is proof of the … Continue reading Did Todd McNair Settle Case For $8 Million?
USC Morning Buzz: Time To Rewrite History
Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff got the “Coach Kliavkoff” treatment Wednesday at USC as he kicked off his listening tour of the conference. I always feel like Clay Helton rewrites history. Below, he is talking about how JuJu Smith-Shuster built his brand at USC. I remember a junior year where Smith-Shuster didn’t get as many opportunities as expected and some doubted his pro prospects, mainly because … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: Time To Rewrite History
