If you heard the podcast, you know I said I was going to pick Iowa. I think it will be a close game, so I’ll take the Hawkeyes, 27-24. Now it’s your turn. Can Iowa figure out a defense to contain the Air Raid or prevent deep passes? Was USC’s bowl preparation enough to stop a physical, motivated Iowa team? The USC Alumni Club of San Diego sent out an email at 9:48 a.m. today for a Game Day watch party in Old Town that starts at 11 a.m. Nothing like a last-minute invitation. But the fact is Iowa fans are expected to heavily outnumber USC fans at the game. Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz remarked today that he saw a lot of Hawkeye fans when he walked around the city. Iowa … Continue reading Does USC Need A Quick Start Tomorrow Night?

Clay Helton said tailback Markese Stepp (ankle) will not play in the Holiday Bowl. He said offensive tackle Drew Richmond (foot) is 50-50. I mentioned this before but I’m going to mention it again: It’s not supposed to rain in San Diego until late this afternoon or early this evening but USC is scheduled to do its walk-through in a hotel ballroom.
