When Pat Haden hired Steve Sarkisian over Ed Orgeron, he told me this in 2013. “I could be absolutely wrong. We’ll find out.” We sure did find out. Orgeron just led LSU to a 10-3 record with wins over Georgia and Central Florida. And he just stole the nation’s top cornerback for 2020 (Elias Ricks of Mater Dei) from USC. Sometimes I think it is … Continue reading Pat Haden Quote To Remember
I could say I find it ridiculous that an NFL team might hire Kliff Kingsbury but I remember an NFL team hired Lane Kiffin. I’m not sure why some USC fans think Kingsbury would be disloyal to leave for an NFL job or to even interview. This is what coaches do. They always want to be wanted and aspire to coach in the NFL. He was fired by Pete Carroll last year after seven seasons with the Seahawks. Former USC linebacker Matt Gee has died, according to former teammates. Gee, 49, was a successful insurance salesman in Simi Valley. He was … Continue reading New Year’s Day Notes
Happy 2019! And let’s celebrate with a picture of the USC band (in classic regalia) from the 1975 Rose Parade. This was the day USC defeated Ohio State, 18-17, in the Rose Bowl on a two-point pass from Pat Haden to Shelton Diggs. The Trojans finished No. 1 in the UPI poll with 27 of 34 first-place votes.
